Cette église du 12e siècle, remaniée au 19e, est l'unique vestige d'une puissante abbaye bénédictine construite durant le haut Moyen Age, à proximité du confluent primitif.
Elle constitue un témoignage intéressant d'art roman en région lyonnaise.
